I mentioned before I was working on some new pieces.
As my friend Kevin Serna put it, “It’s the marriage of the two things you love. Photo and Coffee”
I’m coating fine art paper with using brown processing(Van Dykes). I expose for the duration of time it takes for me to finish a cup(or more) of coffee. As I drink the coffee I place the cup on my the paper. When processed you see the shadows of the cup and the placement throughout the exposure.
After the exposure I turn the paper over and jot down all the notes I was tasting that day in the coffee. I take note of the time of day, my location, the quality of light, etc.
When all processed, I take the prints home and tone them in coffee. The coffee used is french press(unfiltered). Because of this sediments and oils also began to sit on the prints and create something quite beautiful. This is my process.
Inspiration from Eric William Carroll’s Blue Line of Woods series and my fall semester instructor Allison Grant
